The Academy for Lifelong Learning at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM) is a unique opportunity to enhance your life through learning both within and outside classroom environments. An academic cooperative run by members who volunteer their time and talents, The Academy offers courses, group discussions, presentations, field trips, and social events conceived and conducted by members. The programs encompass a diverse range of topics, including ecology, literature, history, religion, science, current events, photography, philosophy, gardening, and more. Courses are held on the CBMM campus and at nearby locations.

Brookletts Place is a vibrant and lively center that offers activities for both the individual and groups. The Center provides multiple classes year-round that are educational, recreational, and social in nature. As a non-profit organization, there is no fee to attend these programs; however, some classes may require a minimal fee for the instructors and/or materials. Brookletts Place offers many dedicated rooms for special activities like a yoga studio, computer lab with Internet access, exercise room, game area, and media room.

Elders Group of Talbot County

The Elders group of Talbot County has 60 members of ages 55 and older. Meetings are monthly, with topics relevant to our age group. We benefit from open dialogue with our guest speakers, and our members value the friendly social aspects of our get-togethers. We inform members of local services and activities and take advantage of local cultural and volunteer opportunities. We travel to places of interest and engage in other activities, such as luncheons, book clubs, and classes.

The Institute of Adult Learning (IAL) offers unique educational opportunities for adults 50 and above that emphasize collaborative leadership and active member participation. In the company of like-minded people, members may enjoy college-level academic pursuits without concern for credit, grades or prerequisites. The IAL encourages its members to suggest course offerings and to participate as instructors.

Membership is $75 per person per semester. Member benefits include: enrollment in unlimited courses, priority participation in IAL-sponsored tours and Chesapeake College privileges (including library, cafeteria, bookstore, etc.).
